hi all just got a few questions about my dual cab hilux rear springs.they are OME 2" with 2 leaves from pack removed then the overload and very bottom one been cut short just to keep height on the spring perch. The shackle angle is not great after 4 years of wearing in and ride is pretty rough etc.

It has the ome shocks to suit but id like a little bit more flex out of it.Im not really interested in IFS rears with big big shackles or lift blocks so is there other options.OR....will cutting my rear shackle hanger off and moving slightly forward with slightly longer shackle help in the flex along with the ride quality??should definately take away the bumpy ride and would you reccomend /\ the shocks?

i searched but mainly found IFS rear info

Longer springs is the only way ya gunna get better flex. The ride will be in how many leaves in the packs and shackle angle. Shackle angle will also help in flex. Don't inboard ya shocks too much as you will get too much body roll.

so is a longer top leaf maybe a option.im not chasing a big flexy truck or anything and i still want it to ride good on road.It has sort of minimal leaves in the pack now so ride should be good in that way but i think moving my shackle angle to closer to 45 would also help me here.

Im not an expert on this, but Ive read a bit that says, if you remove the load leaf, which is usually the shortest, thickest leaf at the bottom of the pack, it will give you a little bit more flex, Im not sure if it will improve the ride comfort, but if you carry any kind of weight, you probably should keep the load leaf in.
Probably best to do a search on it before you do anything though.

I am running tough dog 2inch spring. The shackle at the rear was pointing toward the front of the truck a bit. I dropped the main load leaf at the very bottom which dick sfa....just recently i dropped the next 2 leaves which improved the shackle angle, flex and ride quality greatly. I am now left with a 4 leaf pack

yeah mine rides pretty hard.its real sudden when you hit bumps and so on.

i have taken 2 leaves out of the main pack, then left the load leaf and the very bottom one is cut off short just to act like a little lift block(only 10mm) my shackle angle is better then the straight up and down it used to be but is far from good i say.

you just have to be careful to not get axle wrap etc removing too many but just play around and see what works as i will be again
