Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Just seeing if anyone would be interested in these. Run inline with your back or front brakes. Put your foot on the brake then push the button down. Take ya foot of the brake. It stops the flow of oil back to maser cylinder.

Stupid question time, do you need to hold the button down or do you push it down again to release it, just thought id ask.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Just put ya foot back on the brake to release it or pull the knob up again. I'm guessing it stays down till you do so.

This brake lock will hold any vehicle with hydraulic brakes, so it has many applications. It is simple to install, has Line-In & Line-Out and comes with standard 3/16" brake line fittings & installation instructions.

(Width is 2") (Height is 1-1/2") (Depth is 1")

Easy to use: Just step on the brakes, push in the knob on the Brake Lock, and let off the foot brake and it's locked. To release just step on the foot brake and it opens automatically.

I have a question, we all know that hydralic handbrakes are illegal but given the known lack of effectiveness of standard handbrakes on a lot of 4wd's, would it be illegal to have this IN ADDITION to the factory handbrake?

would you have it front or rear? I only ask the question because with the proportioning valve i can't be sure that the rear would receive enough hydraulic pressure to hold the car anyways which means running the front circuit into the car to the device before heading back out to the front axle. Would this alone make it illegal? the routing of pipe that is?

Line lockers are illegal. My Engineer understood why I wanted one and agreed that they work well for what I wanted but it is a no go, at least here in Vic thanks to those that use them for burnouts.

Im not going to answer that. That is for an engineer to answer. It's not affecting the use of the brakes in any way.

I've never seen this brand, but it could have been around for years.

They also do cutting brakes like CNC ones. They are a bit cheap than CNC ones as well. So if ya in the market for cutting brakes have a look.

I would have thought that if it's illegal to start with then "in addition to" would be illegal too?
Good concept though but if you were relying soley on the hydro lock for a handbrake and your m/c did bleed back or some kind of hyd failure you might find your car at the bottom of a hill hence probably the reason they are illegal.

I like my Patrol's trans brake, in 4wd with the brake on it holds on some very gnarly angles

True, but you wouldn't use it as a handbrake on a big hill anyway, noone in a right state of mind relies on any braking system to hold the car(unless your in the drivers seat), you put it in gear if getting out or parking the car. This device is perfect for a million other things as well as being a handbrake.

i'm under the understanding that it's illegal to have one as the sole emergency or parking brake, but im sure there's a lot of things that are illegal on their own but fine as an addition to compliant systems. I think it might be hard to say that it's being used for burnouts if it's place on the primary drive axle (rear) or on a constant 4WD vehicle

I've used them in past rigs and in the rigs I build. I'm also putting one in my buggy. I don't like electric locks because if you run out of juice in your battery your line lock can open.
