AUX Fuel Tank - Broken part what is it?

Hi Guys / Girls,

I have an AUX fuel tank which has been in the shed for a while and have started to put it all together. I have found a part broken off inside which I managed to rattle out the sender unit hole.

It is a piece of copper tube 105mm long with 3 holes drilled in one end. It has been silver solder into place but not very well judging by the look of it.

Can anyone tell me where it is from in the tank and will the tank be affected if it is not in there? I think the tank is from LRA but not 100% on that.

See photos below. Any help would be appreciatted.

looks like a return line, to short for a pickup unless the tank is very shallow.
It will almost certainly be soldered into one of the screw in fittings on the tank or the sender unit, so pull it apart and put it back in would be the best bet....... they wouldn't have put it in there if they didn't have to..... it must solve some problem.

Depends how the tank is supposed to be set up. If the tank is used to fill the main tank then it will be the pick up but if used as a separate tank it could be both pick up or return. Best bet would be to check whether it has any over pick up or returns.

looks like an extension on the pick up which has come apart from the sender unit
