Hello, I have a 88' NG shorty Pajero I'm thinking of moving the rear diff under the leaf springs?
Whats your thoughts?
My thinking would be that the drive shaft would be to short maybe?
Has anyone ever seen or better still done this to their Pajero.
All thoughts welcome.

Hi... it would be an idea if pajo had the same configuration for front and rear axles, like nissan patrol tr, suzuki samurai, toy bj 70/71, etc etc...
The indipendent front axle limits a lot the lift...
I wouldn't go on...

Its not hard to do I have done a few SPOA (spring pack over axle) on Suzukis .. can be difficult to do right.. You need to be careful to ensure your spring perchs etc are equal and set at the correct angles. Plus you will need to address axle wrap issues (spring pack bending into an S shape .. not good for traction, springs or Universal joints)

If you do go for it and net yourself about a 100mm lift in the rear, what are you going to do about the front ? (a 4 inch\100mm lift in the front IFS is not going to be easy .. or you will need to convert it to a live axle setup as well )

hi i done this one about 1990 on long wb 88 there were several isues drive sharft needs lenthened. but first the springs need to be shortened and also flatterned to make straight other wise the whole arse end sits up to high . also brake cables become a bit short and need re routed over springs. i made my own saddles so lined up pinion better as for performence it had a tendency to lift a rear wheel when doing really hard bits on trips the springs dont flex as much i had an arb locker. fitted it early ninties, so wasnt a problem it did give me a heap more ground clearance i allso lifted transfer case up and cut the gear box crossmember in half long ways and put a flat plate along it this gives you a much better ramp over angle and by adjusting front suspenshion up in the usual ways this truck be come un beatable in its time, it just seamed to go any where i was all ways pulling those early land cruisers out of bogs. any way i hope this helps.

did you have a go at your spring over , pest here again for got to mention that you can use the complete rear diff housing out of a 94 on model 4x4 delica van including the springs only the hand brake cables are differnt if you use turbo diesel one the diff ratios are 4.875 so the diff will fit as well i fitted one some years back
