i guy from the 4x4 club i was in thought that too of the cheap one he brought, as he didn't do alot of serious off roading just a bit here and there and soe beach and dessert driving if should be "fine"!

well i got stuck somewhere in the dessert " i got a winch for that PHEW" first time he'd used it it shit itself big time and burn't out, it caught on fire even and the wiring burnt back etc luck he had a fire blanket and exstinguster to stop it taking his whole rig

he had plenty of time to get his patrol running while he waited for someone to come by and pull him out!

Why wouldnt you but a good secong hand Warn XD9000 for $500-?

It would be more relialble and out last some cheap winch.

A winch is the only thing I wouldn't skimp on.

hmm... dont want to make a trusted product look bad but...

I have my warn 8000 apart at the moment and i dont thing a warn winch is that good.

It is sure better than a China winch, but my winch drum dont have bearings.
The drum sits just in bushes and it isnt sealed at the motor and gearbox side...

The motor breather is a joke too.
It looks like it is build for having the winch on top of the bullbar and not behind it.
And the hole lot is not water sealed at all. The motor will be complete wet inside after passing deep water and with bad luck is the gearbox flooded too.

Is there not a decent winch out there?

A Warn is for me only a better quality cheap winch.

Are the hydraulik winches same bad?

If your gunna spend $500-$700 on a winch then get a Tigerz 11. Have had mine for 12 moths now and have used it on the trails numerous times and competed in a winch challenge with it. I here the new. comp series ones are faster again. There were 2 or 3 other cars running tigers at the comp 2
