gday all

I have a tb42e that has done over 450,000kms without any major work, it is becoming very lethargic and low on compression and overheating under load. the head gasket does leak.
to cut a long story short, i am looking for any tips/advice as to whether i should rebuild the tb42e, or replace with a td42 or something similar.
obviously i want to do this for as cheap as possible, and will be doing most of the work myself.
any help would be much appreciated

If your on a budget, rebuild. Diesel conversion won,t be cheap unless you are lucky.

Second hand tb42 can be picked up for $500 personally I would buy one of these and chuck it in. Would take a few of these engines to equal the price of a rebuilt engine.

With that many kilometers on it, I'd be rebuilding the bottom end as well.
