Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge

I bought a Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge, as I am sick of the factory Nissan one!! (See previous posts). The sender for the crappy electric one is $130 from Nissan, but I picked up a mechanical one from REPCO for about $57.
I tested out the gauge by just connecting it in the engine bay and all works fine, however when running it into the cabin, is there a need to insulate the copper pressure line. I noticed already that it gets bloody hot, which is obvious as it is filled when engine oil.
I can just imagine it melting anything that it touches throughout the engine bay, firewall and dash, but at the same time believe it will melt any kind of insulation placed around the wire.
Any advice on this?
Cheers
Andrew
