Where you mount your gauge is your personal prefference. Id mount the boost gauge to the pump (closest to the engine intake manifold as possible) more accurate reading of boost that way.

If your really unsure, just pay someone to mount it, should cost around $100.

I baught a 100series pillar pod off ebay. It replaces your drivers side pillar cover and gives you two 52mm guage pods.

I installed my boost guage by putting a T Piece where the factory boost sensor is on the 100 series 1HDFTE, its ontop of the motor in the crossover pipe. There is a small rubber tube that comes off the bottom of the crossover pipe and goes to the factory sensor. I cut this in half and put my T piece in.

I baught a turbo smart boost adjustor off ebay. and replaced the line that goes from the pressure side of turbo to the wastegate actuator with 2 lines about 500mm, and plugged them into the turbosmart adjuster. Ihave it mounted to the side of my airbox.

I had my dump pipe drilled and tapped for the EGT probe, my probe is about 1.5" from the back of the turbo.

I then did some testing and noticed fuel cut comes in at 16.5psi.

My stock boost was about 12.5psi, I have now set it to 15psi and when I was fully loaded with trailer in tow, hauling in 4th gear up long hill on my way to fraser, boost holding at 15psi, the EGT got to 490 and held at that.

The boost seems to come on faster now, which I think is due to the turbosmart boost controller not allowing the wastegate to start opening like in a factory setup. Factory, the wastegate starts to open slowly from 0psi really(since its just a diaphram attached to a rod), and is just fully open at 12.5psi. Instead, the boost controller is shut until I hit 15psi, So the wastegate actuator has 0psi until i hit 15psi, where the turbosmart controller opens, wastegate gets 15psi.
