i think if you are going to engineer it you will have to use the original computer.
you may get away with after market such as wolf3d or similar depending on your engineer or speak to some one like killalux on here.
he does conversion looms and may be able to modify your loom to make it easier to wire in.

What transmission did you mate the V8 to?
Bellhousing kit?
Straightforward and did you have to masage the firewall to make it fit.

Hey mate,
In most cases it will be much easier and chaeper and more reliable to use the factory ECU. What model is the 5.0L from. i will be able to do up a loom for you.
Can call me on 0404811498. 8-6 mon-fri, 8-12sat. Otherwise leave a msg and I will call back.

Mine is running a standard EEC4 that cam eout of the XR8 I got the motor out of.
It is easy.
You can also get plug and play harnesses from BPT motor sport in Perth for $900.
They fit in easy , I used a dellows bellhousing in mine and clear the firewall easily.
Mine was one if the first. Good to see some more coming out now.
PM me if you need any more info.

What are you charging for a plug and play harness Steve? Im thinking of changing my set up over in the next few months wiring wise.
Mine is running a EB XR8 motor. I have both a smartlock ECU here which I am using at the moment and a pre smartlock ECU available.

The motor came out of a 1995 NF ford fairlane.

I do a universal conversion harness for $475 for the early non smartlock ECU's.
For the later ones a smartlock bypass module is required, these are approx $150. Also if you are using a auto ECU with a manual gearbox then another module is required to tell the ECU that its in drive not neutral, otherwise it will limit engine power. This module is also about $150
If anyone's interested I can also do looms for the 5.4 Boss engine's.

That sounds pretty good Steve.
I am currently running the smartlock bypass module in my currect setup with the EBII computer so wont beed that box.
I also have the frequency injection module for the manual behind auto already.
I will hit you up for a new harness in a few months when I have the truck apart. A nice new harness will be great for reliability and nice and neat.
Can I get you to extend the ECU side so I can hide it a bit deeper in the dash easily?

Hey,
No worries mate. Yes I can extend the harness but generally adds close to $200 in labour.

Hi Guys,
FYI I can do a J3 chip for the Ford EA-AU ECUs to bypass Smartlock/Smartshield and convert the ECU into a Manual if required. I have done one for a GQ
http://www.tiperformance.com.au/owners_ ... vehicle=GQ and an FJ
http://www.tiperformance.com.au/owners_ ... vehicle=FJ. Can also give the spark tables a little tweak for some more torque if you run Premium fuel. For more info send me a PM!
Cheers,
Jason
