Hey guys, I've never posted in the Nissan board before as I'm a suzuki owner, but my younger brother is looking at buying a 1990 swb patrol/mavrik, and I was hoping some of you could help out by telling me if there is any common problems to be on the look out for when he test drives it, stuff like looking for rust in certain places, or wear/noises that only people like yourselves would know about. Any help would be greatly appreciated, chances are you might have another member by the end of the week.
Cheers Whitey.

Cracked head-esp if on gas

Cracked inner guards near batteries (mine has this)

Worn wheel bearings-no breather on them so they suck mud and water if doing lots of muddy work (mine had this)

Bent trailing arms

Crappy grills, pretty much all gq's

Body mounts-rubbers often worn (mine also has this)

Rusting around rear window frames

Crappy seat mounts-seat wobbles around the joint (mine has this)

bit of brake fluid leak from the hand brake seal behind the the transfer case,
rear axle oil leaks <most leak from the left hand side mots.

off road damage on rear control arms, but also chek the front panhard rod, steering arms, fuel tank for hits

some times patrol suffer gearbox problems from heavey towing

but that general
make sure top check 4wd running gear

gernerally if it drives well all runs in pritty good nick

take the offer up
specail if its 4.2l turbo diesel
