Looks like the turbo is hanging off the back of the motor, so probably not going to fit in a 4WD without changing the layout completely, or do large amounts of firewall/transmission tunnel mods.

Interesting, for 5K even is the turbo could not be used it would be a great price for a new 1HD-T, but the auction says "used" they also say the have 3?

would be interesting to see if the pump and injectors are upgraded to match the turbo....

JUST SO YOU KNOW THE CAM IS DIFFERENT MARINE TO 4X4 LOWER LIFT ON MARINE ALL SO REBUILDING A MARINE IS NOT THE BEST DUE TO BOLTS NOT MADE FROM S/S SO YOU GET BROKEN BOLTS ON SUMP PULLYS THESE ARE FRESH WATER COOLED MOTORS BUT THE EXHAUST IS A SEA WATER COOLED MANIFOLD SAME WITH TURBO SO IT CAN BE DONE BUT THE COST IS HIGH

it would be very interesting to know if they are made by Toyota? or Yanmar marine or someone else. They have Yamaha Diesel on the cooler and piping

Yanmar Marine's 1hd-t (has different name) has upgraded injector pumps, and deliver almost double the output of the std toyota version.

I cant see why it wouldnt be able to be stripped of all the marine specific bolt ons and fitted into a car, maybe a different turbo would be needed. Corosion in the engine block and head due to cooling with sea water would ba a concern though

I imagine these 1hdts are made alongside the toyota badged versions in the Hino factory, which is a subsiduary of Toyota.

As for fitting one to a cruiser, 5k will buy a 1hdt from a cruiser anyway. I wouldn't bother.

I picked up a 1hz from a bloke who was swapping in a 100 series 1hd-fte. he bought the motor for around 6500 from a wrecker.

They are not an expensive motor these days, and the new v8 will see prices lower again.

Re route some piping and build a manifold. I cold get that into a 75, 80 or 100 series with a body lift no worries.

I think you need to realise there is a lot more cooling on the water than there is on land. You will not be able to kep these motors cool in a 4wd

True that. Theres an infinite supply of cold water where these things run. I'm guessing that would run quite high boost pressure too. A closed loop cooling system, like in a common 4wd, would most probably not be able to cope.
It would be awesome though if someone bought one and threw a heap of money at it!
