4.6 rear centre, is it GQ or other nissan rear

i have a rear nissan complette centre. was told it is GQ but when i put it next to my other one the teeth on crown and pinion look smaller.
to check i dropped it into a rear GQ housing and it fits normal, GQ axles both fit normal, BUT the teeth are different than a normal GQ crown and pinion.
it has M51:11 on it so that tells me 4:636.
the question is why are the teeth on the crown and pinion smaller?

does the tailshaft flange look the same? maybe out of the rear of a pathfinder? but i thought they were 4.88?

I am pretty sure the 4.66 come out of a 2.8L patrol I have them in a gu ute. could be wrong

thats a 4.636 Navara Diff, 51 tooth crownwheel and 11 tooth pinion ... bolts straight in to my GU as i am running one until i get around to getting my 37 tooth crownwheel and 8 tooth pinion 4.625 GQ difflock fixed.

i don't notice any problems with the slight difference in ratios.

not sure which one is stronger ???

I have 4.6's in my petrol gq Patrol ute. They came out of a diesel 97 2.8 patrol. We had to swap the flanges on the driveshafts (from the petrol ute which had 4.1's) to get it all mated up correctly

hey mate devide the number of pinion teeth by the number of crown wheel teeth this will tell you your ratio.

i know what the ratio is. the teeth are smaller and the reference to the navara diff makes sense. i'm tipping the patrol one is stronger but am very suprised that the navara diff bolts straight in and axles fit aswell.

unfortunately i'm the one who sold pete thse centres. i was told they were patrol fronts and didn't have any reason to check.

so are these things of any use to anyone? from what i've read it'll fit the REAR?? of a gq/gu and will just need the taishaft flange changed to bolt up?

other thing is does anyone know how weak these things are? would the be fine for some decent offroading witha stock motor and good tyres (ie no comps)??

cheers

51/11 in a H233b is from a R50 Pathfinder. smaller front flange same as the 2.8 and 33 spline axles.
I didn't think the Navara ran a H233b diff in the rear
Nissan had a run of these been noisey and lots were replaced under warranty.
For most this didn't fix there problem, and down the track a repair kit was made available which composed of weights added to the trailing arms and the sway bar links. this drastically change the way the noise amplified up to the body effectively removing the horrid diff noise.

I have a few 51/11's here and have had no luck selling them in the past. (fronts are not available to match these, but there pretty close to 37/8's)

I have one fitted to a patrol drum rear and am working on fitted a set to a patrol front diff for a buggy project. (low pinion front with MQ knuckles). Mainly just playing with junk that I have lying around.

I don't think they would be as strong but could be used to get you out of trouble, and I haven't heard of any braking.

VG30E/VG33E and QD32 powered D22's ran the H233B rear diff.

As stated the R50 Pathfinder did aswell.

What he said, I used as navara rear diff to put an lsd centre in the front of my gu
