Definately hub rear upgrade. 80 series axles are pretty forgiving compared the other cruisers ive had. If you have a part time kit fitted then just get some new geniune japanese front axles/cv's. They will last you well. But, with the ls1 id look at reducing stress by changing diff gears to allow for 35's. Brings it back to normal (or close too it).

with the LS1 i would leave the std diff gears in so that u have a bit of highway speed and lower rev's, (and the 4.1's are stronger than lower ratios) and as others have said upgrade the rear studs.

Ok guys cheers. i will source some rear wheel studs then and seems likey to leave stock gearing in it. How strong are the front cvs and axels? Is it worth changing it now to something stronger or leave be till breakls.

cranky you running 38s i think arnt you with a ls1 also, have you still got the factory front axels and cvs?

Thanks for the input guys.I am new to cruisers coming from NISSAN. I have defected LOL.

you can get 100series studs they are 10mm with cone and washer nut
it works a treat straight from toyota thats what i have done note if you can break 8mm studs. 10mm you can still twist so add a dowl and it should be all good and get some extras for spares

you wont be disapointed with longs.
solid pinion spacer is the goods. i got mine from locktup4x4

and im about to do the rear stud upgrade.
i have fulltime 4wd diffs, i just stripped all the studs off the stock front drive flanges. so waiting for longfield to send me some chromo upgrades.
you blokes must bust hubs time to time???
ive only got a 304 holden v8 and a lighter truck then an 80 series.

i have never broke a hub but have replaced one only due to having to weld axel to hub in the bush
the dowls and studs will brake every now and then
only under huge loads i.e locker one wheel air born then slaming down and perfict grip or towing a 3000kg load with a locker on.
