Has it been looked after reasonably well? they are a pretty tough engine, if anything intercooler will put less strain on it with cooler intake temps

I have fitted a front mount to my cruiser with a 12ht, exhaust temp is much lower

I now run 14psi of boost off of the std turbo,(wouldn't want to go any higher without putting on a new turbo) and have turned up the fuel 2 or 3 times now. exhaust temp peaks at 500 post turbo.

I recommend doing it, it has considerably more power up hills now.

(Whoops, posted on wrong thread so edited)

I am doing a top mount on my 60, issues with room for piping on the later models. I am not that concerned with low speed power, its the hills when towing my boat where I want it. I have a turbo diesel lux scoop, large 450 x 300 x 75mm cooler. Thinking of putting a garrett turbo on later also...

I just fitted up a 600x300x75 front mount on my 12HT 60, havent had it in long enough to get proper egt differences, but just going off feel after a bit of a thrash on the hot side its bearly touchable for more than a couple of seconds and the cold side you cold put your tongue on. running 14psi through it at the moment and very impressed with how much it cools the air just going by that. Also mine is a later model with dual headlights, piping is pretty tight in some spots but you can get it in there.

Im yet to do a front mount on mine,

Its on the...To do list

Im running a straight through 3 inch with no mufflers and 13 pound boost and its hits about 600 on the pyro on a big hill.

Gunna screw up the fuel a little and a bit more boost so i need a front mount..

Anyone got figures of a 12HT on the dyno.

There is a guy building laminova precoolers and having them tuned with Dieseltech. Apparently they have been getting some great results. Most of the work he's been doing has been on Patrols.

Hope that helps.

I'm about to fit a front mount as well. I bought a 2nd hand cooler that uses the A/C condensor mounts. 2 inch pipes. It will sit about 2 inches in front of the condesor. I may have to delete the grille though.... :?

What's the best way to make a new inlet manifold adaptor on 12h-t ????? Laser cut plate into pipe?

Dunc.

Yep, I did a laser cut plate with a pipe welded ontop.

I spoke to a guy at ARE , hes located just north of Brisbane. He produces by far the most efficient precooler on the market with the least turbo lag. He has templates for most 4wd except for the 12HT :bad-words:

The only down side is its about $5k fitted for the water to air kit. Incidently, the most accurate position for the EGT probe is in the manifold, pre turbo.
