G'day mate. Last weekend i did this to my cruiser after chopping the rear quarters i got a lenght of thin angle and cut it to suit the shape of the new wheel arch. Then used pop rivets to fix it to the inner guard. Then screwed the rubber flare to the under side of the angle. If you drill the rivets low enough the rubber flare should hide em. Hope it helps a little..

I assume you are looking to chop a hilux??? when i chop my GQ i'll be removing about 10mm from the guards but will be putting the piece that the original flare already bolts too , kinda hard to explain and will be more work than just cutting the guards and leaving a cut and unrolled edge but shold be stronger too!

i cut mine 10 mm short. then with a slice in the back of the panel, bent it round 90'. and bobs ya uncle. screw into the panel.

you can get the rubber flaring stuff that'll screw onto a flat panel aswell.
i'd just cut about 10mm shorter than where you want your guard to be, put a few slices in and bend that up and you can attach the flare to that
