need to know what is a good RTC steering damper for a GQ and for a good price

Why do you want a RTC one over a normal one?
As their name suggests, they return your steering to centre. However, They provide little/no dampning ability.
i have several small ones (around $150) on one truck and kept getting them replaced on warranty because I thought i had a faulty one. until I put and OME steering DAMPNER on, which was so much smoother.
I now run a Fox steering dampner on my GU ute, turns 35's all day, 38's on wkend. and I love it.
IMO stick with an oil/gas filled dampner.

We stock and sell RTC's but we certainly do not recommend them.
Just use a standard type damper, any brand is fine as they are all much the same .
Tough dog EXT dampers are way better than the Tough dog RTC.
We have removed countless RTC dampers of patrols and replaced them with normal dampers when they have steering problems.
As stated they are only good for helping the steering come back to centre but the other problems that are encountered outweigh that.
If your steering geometry is good it should come back to straight anyway once you are moving.

It's not all bad with an RTC.
One thing I noticed when I first got my GQ was the iron lung type steering response on the blacktop, they are what they are, car was standard with nothing bent and all alignment specs typical. So far from a drivers car, so much duller than it needed to be.
Fitted an RTC for no other good reason than to smarten the car up a bit, now I can drive into a corner and at the appropriate part loosen my grip on the wheel and it will come back to centre in time enough to not need extra busy physical help.
It's nice to drive in a relaxed fashion even if hurrying a little instead of what I see from from people driving non RTC GQ patrols.
I also found the RTC a big help on high speed far north corrugations, where darting from side to side while picking the best line, the RTC helped greatly to snap the drifting rear end back into line with minimal bother.

*JUST LUV IT* 96 GQ LWB TD4.2, Cav, Kings, Dobinsons, Motorguard, Enginesaver, 400 pro, Cooper ST's (rolls eyes), fleetguard oil filters, Delo 400 engine oil, Delo ESI gearbox oil and an RTC.
I disagree that RTC dampeners are crap.
I think they have there place in the market and it depends on what application your using them for.
In my old Comp rig i used to highly rate it on the 39x16 claws cause it would allow me to drive it on the road. Even if the steering was heavy, they kept the wheel straight and enabled turning to become more pleasant.
Id suggest one on large tires for a truck rarely driven on road with poor steering setup or one that was good but the tires cause massive issue.
Otherwise for just 35s or around town etc general use and 4x4ing, i agree they arent required.
My GQ shorty has a Tuff Dog Steering damper on it. Not RTC and it works well on 35s so get one of those.
