ive bought a full replacement set of bushes for every arm on my 88 shorty. all up cost about $800 for genuine. ive done the panhards no probs but cant get the old metal sleeved bushes in the radius arms out. do i just need to press on the outer sleeve? what can i get that is the same diameter as the outer sleeve to push them out?

Should press out ok, but you could grab a hacksaw and put a cut in one side if the ring to relieve the pressure and tap it out with a hammer and punch - you want to be careful not to get crazy with the saw and cut into the radius arm itself

Mate, I just drilled into the rubber three times with a 10mm drill to make a sort of slot. Then collapsed the exposed part of the outer ring in towards the centre with a punch. NO risk of hacksawing into the arm then. Worked a treat for me and it was quick.

yeah you just need to get a piece of pipe or something the same diameter and press on the outer metal rim.
I'd suggest obviously that you use a reasonable size press for the job other wise cutting them is pretty much the only way to get them out

i baught a 200$ press from a tool shop and got a pice of 50mmx3mm wall round tube and pushed them out in about 10 seconds flat if u have a bit of trouble with your press heat them up with some kind of blowtorch metal expands and they just about fall out

You could use a socket that is a little bit smaller than the bush size to push them out (if you have a press).
The new ones will go in a bit easier if you put them in the freezer for half an hour beforehand.

i have a press but it would be a massive socket to push out the outer sleeve on the readius arms. i think i will wait till tomorrow when the steel shop re-opens and get a piece of pipe and get it machined down to the correct diameter

I made a special tool, basically I machined down a big arsed piston Wrist pin down to about 49mm and use that to press through the bush, I can do a full set in about 20 mins
