jackaroo TD advice

Post by jackaroo02 »

Hey guys.
Ok so I am an owner of the 4jx1 in an 02 jackaroo......And I can safely say so far the engine has been great! with expensive, thin oil, and regular servicing so far it has never let me down, despite a rather tough WA & NT life. But, at only 160k I wanna know a bit of advice.... do i sell it while on a winner......even though resale is crappy, or hang on to her, with the idea of getting 250k out of the old girl....which with the way she has been going is possible. Secondly and more importantly, if i keep her, and the engine goes....what else will fit, sure as eggs wont put another 4jx1 in her..... will the older 3.1 bolt straight in? or maybe a rodeo engine? it has to be diesel, anyone with some good advice would be appreciated. Cheers

I would hang onto it, as long as you look after it, it should be fine. If the motor does go a D max engine would be my pick otherwise the 3.1 or 2.8 should bolt straight in with some mods to plumbing and electrics.

tough call, what would you replace the Jack with?

I would tend to say keep it because at least you have a good idea of service history
