99 GV Strut top Mount destruction!!!

Been a long while sionce I have posted, But I am finally getting back to paying some attention to the zook.
I have had a recurring problem with it for a few years now. Since fitting the lift there has been some issues with the strut top mounts.
It is fitted with a suzisport 2" lift, shortly after fitment, I blew the left hand strut top mount and found the right to be worn badly, both were replaced and that cost me nearly 500 bucks courtesy of Genuine only replacement.
A few months back on Fraser she went bang again and blew the passenger side mount!
It's sat in the shed for the last two months cos I have been to irate to bother with it. But now I am about to fit a 2.5" calmini kit and the mounts are about to be replaced once again.
Managed to find the same mounts from the US at about one tenth the price of genuine here in oz. So they are not the issue. I do however want to make sure it doesnt happen again. A couple of blokes have mentioned it is likely a problem with strut travel affecting the mounts. Has anyone had similar experience? and if so how is it overcome once and for all??

might be due to a crappy lift kit. if the struts are too long than the bumpstop won't be working putting all the pressure on the strut mount itself.

(posted earlier but denied by outers gremlins....)
Whose struts do Suzisport use in their kit? I understand toughdog struts are a bit too long for the stock bumpstops and I've seen them punch though the top mounts.
Steve.
(PS - you're going to want to use OME struts with the calmini kit anyway- the calmini struts are rubbish)

Not sure mate, they are a yellow strut with a dogy suzisport sticker on the side. I Would never recomend them to anyone!
I had heard that about the calmini kits. so that is definately an option, so is welding a friggin piece of steel across the strut top to prevent this from occurring again!!!
What erk me is the suppliers of these aftermarket kits don't want to know you as soon as you have a problem relating to their piss poor lifts.
Thanks for the advice so far fellas.

1997 - 2005, SV/SQ420, 4CYL 2.0L J20A EFI 16 Valve
24239 STRUT MOUNT FRONT 2D HARDTOP & 2D SOFT TOP

1998 - 2005, SQ625, V6CYL 2.5L H25A MPFI 24 Valve
24238 STRUT MOUNT FRONT
Kelpro list these on their website.
If either are the right ones it might be cheaper in the event of future failures before you get the problem sorted.

I know this might seem a silly question but check.
When the struts were intstalled and the factory strut top were re fitted, did they refit the factory large washers that go either side of the strut tops? If there not there, the strut will punch the guts out of the strut top in notime

i would agree that the struts are just to short and causing the problem.
the Calmini struts are rubbish because they are the same length as factory.
get longer struts with the calmini kit

Interesting... I will check when I am pulling it to bits tomorrow. I can't say I remember seeing a washer on the underside of the strut mount when I pulled out the last broken one.

So I guess from here I source a couple of new washers before I refit struts.
