Wheels and gear ratios.

Post by huntn »

OK im sure this has been on before but nobody mentioned the gear ratios needed to turn 35s, so if i was to turn 35s and ran 5.12 diff ratios would i be back to about the standard gearing or would i still need to get some series 3 rock hoppers. Even then what revs would my 1.3 5 speed be doing to sit on 100km/h. Cheers guys.

i've got 35's and 5.12s and the speedo seems to still be accurate - just can't get to the top speed anymore - too much wind resistance.

I sit on the M2 at about 100 on the speedo (3500rpm) and am with the other traffic.

you can now buy 5.83 ratios from the states which should solve all your problems.

I think you also need to keep in mind that if 5:12's return your speedo to being correct your still turning a hell of a lot more tyre than a 27.

So you might have correctly adjusted standard gearing with 35's but its not gunna like 5th gear and have no more reduction in low than standard (Which isn't very low). I think the moneys better spent on a rockhopper.

What about i run 5.12 and rock hoppers series 1 or 3? Then i'd be able to use fifth and have a very good low range, but would it still be daily driveable?

yes it would be daily driverable but it would be in the shed all the time broken ;) 35's=to big for zuk stuff

plus it would be a big piece of shit off road u would have to lift it to tall to clear the tires(daily driven u cant really hack away all the panels) stick with 31' or 33's it will be more capable an not broke asmuch

The 35s are under it now and fit easy with very very minimal angle grinder useage! just need my ratios right. So what do you think will break redzook?

Don't listen to Tim, he thinks that 33's are big and that you break stuff driving on to other peoples tyres.
