hey i was just having a think about how im going to install my hi-steer kit, shock hoops, front leafs, rotate the steering knuckles and weld ne perches on and cant quite work out what order to do it all in.

its kind of hard to explain the way im thinking but

if i rotate the knuckles first ill have to move the perches and shock tabs but then what if its the wrong angle after the springs and weight of the car are on the diff?

maybe im over thinking it but i want to get it right the first time.
should i just put the hi steer and the front leafs then let the weight of the car down and measure how far i need to turn the knuckles and perches to get the diff pointing to the transfer and so the perches are on the top?

any help would be greatly appreciated and if you need more info just ask.

thanks
Justin

do the knuckles last so you can do it with weight of the vehicle on the diffs, pinion angle should be sorted out whilst doing the spring perches etc, correct me if im wrong zoltan

zoltan-
no im just doing hi steer, shock hoops, trail gear leafs front and rear,12 inch shocks.

pinkfloyd-
if the leafs are in and the weight is on the diff how will i be able to rotate it upwards when the car is pushing down?
or do i use a jack under the centre and it should push it up then weld the knuckles and put the new perches and brackets on the top?

cheers

why do you need to change your pinion angle?

Run a high pinion diff center instead. Alot easier than rotating ya knuckles.

i need to change the andlge because its facing the back diff and i want it to face the transfer

its currently facing the rear diff because of the extended shackles not being on enough of an angle.
ill wait to see how much the new springs change it as they are alot longer if not ill move the perch and if it doesnt fix it ill rotate the knuckles

so were talking of a lux front diff?
easy option is as stated, put a highpinion centre in.
or if your caster angle is rolled backward move than stock, just roll the whole diff forward to stock castor angle and weld ur spring perchs on in that position.

then the pinion will face higher up.

i couldnt be bothered tracking a hi pinion centre down then changing my locker over.
id rather fix the one i have.
i have some castor wedges if its slightly out after i do the cut.

I just run wedges.

Wedges or a dropped front cross member to match the extended shackles. This will Fix the angle. That will be the cheapest option.
