hi all
ive had my lux for a few months now and decided i wanted to lift it.
my cousin gave me the idea of just putting more leaves in the pack and buying bigger U bolts. but dad didnt approve (seeing he bought it).
ive been searching a little bit over the net, but i wanted some approved opinions. I would prefer a 2" and for it to handle better off road.
well thanks
Sam

Cheap and easy way is to have your old springs reset.. costs half the price on new springs..

but bear in mind this wont last as long as new springs..

What year model? Why not extended shackles there not legal in QLD but I have run them for years as have my mates and there never been a problem. Will Flex better off road than reset springs last longer than reset springs and a fraction of the price (start from $150 a pair) Its not recomended to carry constantant heavy loads on them (ie. everyday) but every now and than is fine. Is quickest and easyiest way to lift a leaf sprung veichle (can be fitted in about 15-20minutes a end (ie. front and back)).

Holy crap, don't listen to these guys..

Don't fit extended shackles unless you are either using longer springs or relocating spring mounts. Longer shackles on stock springs will increase the angle, reducing your downtravel and ride comfort, not to mention changing pinion and steering angles.

Reset springs are an option, but they will sag again, and may not be worth the money.

It all comes down to how much you are intending on spending.
You could go the whole hog with Locktup's TG kits, or just get a set of springs for EFS, OME etc.

Do more reading. Its everywhere...

I agree with Yamaha, go with a reputable brand for aftermarket lifted springs, get a set of 2 inch lifted springs, greasable shackles, and buy shocks to suit, a decent steering damper, then you will have increased ground clearance, more flex, which should give more traction in trickier situations, and you will be able to run bigger tyres, then, if needed, do a 2 inch body lift.
Do a search on lux lifts and have a look through the members section for ideas.

more flex doesnt always mean more traction if u have open difs caue the wheel with less weight on it will spin,

hey mate yeah its a tricky choice, just set urself up with something legal in the mean time which is 2inch or 1/3 of ur oginal travel i think, get some 2inch springs and maybe take a few leaves out ect but taking leaves out will hopefully give u more flex and 2inch shocks will usually wont be long enough (ie wat happend to me) so get a seat of leafs muck around with them then measure ur shock size, u will be suprised with ur results,

cheers mick

I ran extended shackles in my old lux with stock leaves for years and they were fine, they do reduce shackle angle a little but still Sh$t all over stock suspension off and on road. They dont change steering and pinion angle enough to worry about. Relocating spring mounts is a peice of piss to do anyway should the shackle angle be reduce enough to affect ride quality. Both extended shackles and new after market leaves are viable options, but for the cost of new leaves as against the cost of extended shackles i know what id be doing.

i would recommned going to superior engineering since it is only about 10 mintues away from morayfield and they do full kits for about $1500 plus a little bit extra for fitting if your not able to do it

Your sh!t all must be different to mine, a vertical shackle angle is about as bad as it gets before you start to invert them at ride height.

Buy 2 auto lockers, or airlockers if you can afford it and outdrive everyone without lockers, all the flex in the world and all the compstatus means jack if your wheels are spinning.

Then laugh as you drive tracks the "sick" guys cant or have to give it 4/5ths rissole to get through it.

Ext shackles on springs that arent suited to them is laughable, you probably wouldnt have any problems but it is about as big as a bandaid gets, lift blocks will do the same job and let the standard shackle do its job.

$1500 sheesh, could buy the parts to make it work better for half that.

Rears up front, Ifs springs in the back, Shock hoops, shocks, X over steering could be done for 1500, less if you go about it smartly, if your cash bags and go superioir make sure you match shocks to the artiuclation, i bottomed 4inch lift shocks with 0 inchs of lift.

If you want to keep it legal it becomes a problem, depends what you want the truck for, are you going to use it seriously offroad, weekend warrior, or do you want the lift just so it looks good on road, i'm not a fan of body lifts but for on road looks there qucik easy and don't really effect ride comfort or lack of haha.

Mod list in order.

Dual lockers
Minimal suspension mods
Tyres
Steering.

Once you start modding things, you never stop.
Xeleventy on lockers too.
