Has Anyone tried out using 7.8hp motors on a high mount running 24volt. How did you find it and is it a worthwhile upgrade from a 6hp motor? I know alot of guys ude them down in New Zealand but don't know why not around here. Thanks for your help.

I have used the 12V version and frankly I would never fit one again. The first one had an internal connection work loose after a couple of months. Fixed that and shortly after the motor shorted out. Managed to fix that and then made the mistake of fitting a second one for the Gigglepin head. Both motors burnt out shortly after during a relatively modest pull.
I went to twin Warn 6HP and have had no problems since.
I was not at all impressed by the build quality of the 12V 7.8HP motors. For example the clearances are so tight the through bolts tend to short out. It is claimed they are made in the USA but there is no marking to confirm this and both mine were fitted with Chinese bearings.
I believe the 24V ones are better quality but I would not risk it. The quality of the Warn motors is just far superior and I reckon they pull harder than the 7.8s.
Just my experience. Others may have had better luck, but it cost me a heap of dough before I finally dumped them and switched to the Warn.

I ran a 12v on 24 for years and even after a front smash knocking the shit out of it it still pulled like a trooper. It is worn out now but still works.
