You don't replace the whole dizzy, you just buy a kit that replaces the points, it was under $200 and installed pretty easy. Just need to run a couple wires, the instructions were good.

I installed mine two years ago and have had no problems

This is the way to go if you dont want to replace your dissy. Dont go for the electronic systems the still utilise the points as the trigger system, I have a mate who did this & the thing burnt point like nothing else. It should not have as the voltage at the points is supposedly reduced but they burnt like they were getting 12 volts all the time.

I fitted a hall effect set up to my brothers 5lt MK & once we had the hall effect set up correcty it was a dream.

Yep, couldn't agree more, the Pertronics kit works, got rid of that annoying TB42 classic 1200 RPM stumble. You just have to remove the top section of the dizzy shaft and file the shoulder down a bit, but all do-able without taking the whole dizzy out. another thing you can do is bend the tabs inside the cap in a couple of mm to decrease the gap between the rotor and the tabs.

I added an ACCEL Super coil too, all this gave it more down low torque, and will easily do 120 with 36's on. Not bad for an old carbie fed donk with 336,000 k's.

No one has answered his question. He has the electronic dizzy out of the EFI I assume and he wants to replace the old distributor. ( Not convert to Pertronix.) anyone done the EFI dizzy to Carby engine conversion.

PS I have the Pertronix kit and it has been flawless...but that is another post.

the EFI dizzy in a carby patrol won't work

the EFI dizzy has no mechanical or Vacuum advance system as the dizzy just distributes the spark and has a crank angle sensor on the shaft that that the ECU to fire the coil. Put that in to a carbi and watch what happens, you will loose so much power without any advance system
