got a 93 cruiser and put a part time kit in myself.
first drive front driveshaft still spun.
Next day didnt move its been good since january.
Just drove to newcastle then went on the dunes at stockton. No problems yet drove another 200km to the end of the f3 and driveshaft started spinning intermittently got halfway down m4 and stopped again and was good all the way to penrith.
Ive got no idea what could be causing this just wondering if anyone has any ideas or had previous experience with this problem.
Cars more specifically a 93 rv landcruiser

more info:
Kit is marks 4x4 adaptors
hubs are engaging and disengaging properly
seems that the tailshaft isn't fully disengaged so maybe a t-case problem?
have tried putting it in and out of low and high range then 2wd and tried jolting it out of place. tailshaft can be moved freely by hand no catching or jolting.
Will only do this when backed off on throttle.

Hey sonny (just kidding) why don't you jack the diff up in the air and turn those wheels a bit. If it is an intermittent hub problem the you will confirm it or if its not tempted to move then look at the transfer.
Too much grease in the hub can cause this as well so do the check. I know a really nice bloke up the mountains that can lend you a couple of axle stands but I'm going to be away this week until next sat.

Did you only fit the hubs, or did you pull down the centre diff and fit the required parts in there too? If you haven't done the centre diff, then its not a proper part time kit.

He did the full kit (transfer mod as well)

yes well will try that and see how i go however grease in hubs looks more like oil, hence the seepage from my hubs.
Will have a quick look today and if no good will have to take front shaft out to go to work and back

And yes transfer and hubs were done took 1 very long day and lots of imaginative words to do.

are you sure it's engine/road driven fully, and not just turning because of the drag of the grease in the hubs turning the diff centre (it happens)

well as mentioned above i will jack it up and turn each wheel with hubs unlocked to rule out anything in the front anyway. What i think might be happening is the actuator that engages / dis-engages front tailshaft might be caught or not retracting fully.
But take it step by step and its always good to get multiple opinions, there are people that know much more than i do i can guarantee

i guess what i'm saying is if it moves when you do that, get someone else to try to hold the shaft steady while you turn the wheels. if the shaft stops turning, it's just parasitic drag in the hubs.

I've noticed a few 4wds that the front tailshaft turns every now and then. Must be oil drag or something

at a guess, there is a little bit of tightness between the bushes in the transfer, and this is enough to coax the driveshaft to turn.

from what I have been told by a tailshaft guy, is that the front shaft can spin anyway when not engaged just from vibration from other spinning parts etc. This is why the front slip yoke flogs out on tailshafts, because they are spinning with no pressure on them, causing them to flap around and flog out over time. Sounds like yours is a bit more than free spin though.

its the same noise id get if i locked the centre diff without the hubs being engaged. Only does it during deceleration though. So yeah its sppinning quite fast at times will still spin though when out of gear and clutch in

That would be diff oil, might need a swivel hub kit as well.

time for an update
just checked front diff by jacking front off ground and spinning each tyre for 2mins each, tailshaft doesn't even look like wanting to move, CDL seems to be working fine motor whirrs and seems to move the same amount in both directions.
I did however notice my flange is a little loose so i will tighten this and recheck transfer oil.
Turning driveshaft by hand occasonally results in a grinding noise from transfer as if teeth are catching.
