They are as good as any other off the shelf kit.

Yep. Don't let price fool you, turbo's are not that expensive. Brands like dts and safari are only capitalising off their name

No they are not all the same, but i guess if its got a garret it must be good hey.
DTS will make more power and have lower peak torque than any off the of the shelf kits.

plus they have been around for a while too, from memory it was 3700 and that included fitting and the exhaust. it may not be as powerful but i would rather longevity than power. they say it is the simplest and most reliable on the market but considering i have been sick for the last 6 months and have had 2 operations i will have to keep saving eh, cheers guys

The only good advice I got was from someone not trying to sell me one. Ball bearing Garrets are nearly impossable to service.
I have a sleeve style mitsubishi turbo. It's power output is not as good but can be worked on when things go wrong and they all eventually go wrong. Usually when a bearing turbo goes, it totally destroys itself. I'd rather servicability than that tiny bit more power any day.
Do your homework. It took me 6 months of homework before I shelled out the cash and brand names mean stuff all.
Good luck.

what about 3kw?
On the dyno they are about the same. Theres 203984302984 threads on them all.
Off the shelf kits -> DTS, Safari, AXT, Denco, etc.

I am glad you said nearly! Cause they are possible to service. If your talkin' bout a back yard service, then your right. But for something that spins about as fast as a jab bike, then I would recommend you put it on a balancing machine to stop it exploding by an experienced turbo specialist!
But, I am all for the backyard mechanic?

sorry got a bit off track there.
Turboglide use a GT28, good turbo and you'll be happy as a 16 yr old at a brothel!

The normal kit uses a T28, not GT28. There is an upgrade kit that uses a GT28 though. T28 is a normal floating bush type turbo.

The Turbo Glide leaves little room for a dump pipe, too close to the firewall. The DTS (despite trading off its name, I wonder how it got that?) uses a far better Mitsubishi TD05 Turbo which is water cooled and has 360 degree thrusts. A more efficient turbo will produce more boost for less heat and as a result lower EGT's, if turbo technology hadn't improved we'd all have TD04's with turbine housings twice the size of comp housings.

No they are not all the same on the dyno, but if want to rest your case on a peak Kw figure and not low down driveability, egt, torque & serviceability then carry on with what your doing BUT your barking up the wrong tree.
Chiefdog!!
Good luck with what you choose but please dont buy something that is a succession of marketing over a product that will still be with you in ten years time .
