Hi there .

I was dragging my spare front diff into the shed this arv and noticed a number stamped into the axle tube.

35551845 H

Anyone got any ideas what it is for ?

Ps : Classic Range Rover diff obviously

Cheers

Could have matched the 'vin' number on the big ally plate on the radiator support panel. Rear should be numbered the same if so.

Would have been there to discourage mischievous pixie diff thieves in the mother country from stealing and melting metal down to be used in weapons against the Crown.

Thanks .

It's a spare one I got a while ago , when I got the Maxi rear. But I will check the number and compare with what is on the ID plate , just to see if there are any similar numbers. Just for shits and giggles.

If one pixie could carry that heavy pos away , I'm sure not going to get in it's way.

G`day ,

Up till 86 and maybe later ( don`t know and haven`t looked ).

The first part of the number the 355 says its right hand drive , the front and rear of the same vehicle will start 355 .

The rest of the number is probably like the vin and a build number which could i`d think trace the year/model it was for if one had the details , i don`t .

The H would be to do with any differences in the build , ie bearing/materials , flat/round housing etc .

Cheers
