g'day all i just have a few questions about the auto boxes, i have an 04 TJ with a bit of a lift, 35's, lockers and the diff gears have been changed and im wondering how strong the standard auto's are?
do i need to get a fairly huge trans cooler to help, and plumb it tranny-rad-cooler-tranny??
and
is it worth getting the internals strengthened??
any help would be great
cheers

They are regarded as a medium duty transmission.
Unfortunately there's not a lot of aftermarket hop-ups to strengthen your auto box - but regearding the diffs is a very good start.
Also make sure the breather is extended & sealed (excluding the breather itself obviously).
Unless bugger tyres are in your future or unless you are currently experiencing probs ii probably wouldn't touch it.....

Thanks for the help Wooders, the front and back breathers are up high and follow the air locker line, so there isnt any sharp bends or anything.
As for bigger tyres i was thinking maybe going a 36/11.5/15 pede but thats a while down the track
Im not having any troubles at the moment, but i was thinkin a prevention is better then a cure
P.S. I was looking on your site Wooders and noticed the rear quarter armour, ill have to sign up and further investgate

Dave (Wooders) is the man to speak with on parts for the TJ..
"is the auto any good?".
Fark yeah, with one of these.....

Think Wooder was talkin about the TRANS breather not the diif breathers, these are prone to water ingress without a proper breather (i dont think they had one standard?) i'd put a seperate trans cooler in as they can get hot when wheelin.
Think B&M make coolers with there own fans, these look pretty trick, try Summitracing.com
