Turbo'ing a TD42- how important is upgrading the pump etc.

Hi there I know there has been a million td42 turbo posts but couldn't find anything specifically about adding a turbo and not upgrading everything else in the pump.
Obviously adding a turbo will be benificial but will I get away with not doing the pump? or is it a waste of money and time if your not going to go the whole hog. Basiclly I reckon I could fit a turbo kit but am reluctant to pull the pump to bits to upgrade....thoughts or flamings!

just bolt it on and turn it up will be fime if ur not chasing massive power

If the pump is in serviceable condition you dont "need" to do anything.
All that may be required is a bit more fuel delivery (only a turn of the screw), but this should be done with care or by a specialist.
If you search the bible there is a thread there about adjusting the fuel

We turboed our gq back when we had one and it was the best thing we ever did to that truck.
we did exhaust and turbo, no need for injector pump upgrade for a std turbo set up.
you only do that if you chasing extra extra herbs, and after driving a stocko you will be super happy with a normal turbo set up.

99% of turbo kits fitted get no more than the pump adjusted.

I haven't touched mine since i put the turbo on, and its fine. Get it dyno tuned with the stock pump if you wish, or if you have some $$$, get a modified pump with boost compensator.

as long as your pump is in good nick, don't worry about it.
put the turbo on, take it to get it put on a dyno so that they can adjust the pump you have properly and you're away. If you are not sure what you are doing with the pump, get a professional to adjust it for you on a dyno so that they can measure your air fuel ratio.
it'll feel like a different truck to drive.

One thing you SHOULD get done before you turbo it is the injectors. Thats really the only preparation i did on the fuel side of things.

11-13psi and the pump turned up should be enough of a performance increase for u
