18r turbo

just wondering has anyone turboed a 18r hilux before and how they went about it

hay man i just turbed my 22r i went a complete efi system with haltec computer ls1 injection and it goes great i just have a t25
garret turbo with a set of manifolds i made up my self and i am just running 8psi boost and it is great and than i am also running
front mount intercooler to try and keep it all cool and with it being a smaller turbo it spools up quickly so the power is there when
ya need it

Google a 22R-TE, the 22R came factory turbo in the states and r a similar block if im not mistaken?
If its a carby forget it and do a 3RZ swap.

i have seen a few done old school
as in no intercooling and a drawthrough su carb these were all teh rage in the late 70's and early 80's
18 r is a really tough donk with a cast iron head and overhead cam
they rev better than the 21 or 22r that replaced them and r stonger
if you find an old school kit for sale u should be able to get it cheap
bolt it on and see how it goes
other wise bolt in an 18rg (twincam) with injection
and turbo that with a front mount
