rear springs upfront?

is it hard to do will it just bolt straight in??

does it give u much lift??(i have got 3 in springs in tha back an i want it to sit even)

lift !!!!

hey dude !! the answer is NO !!!!!!
you can bolt them sraight in , but you will have shackles that will lay flat out the front of your rig !!!!!!
you either have to extend your chassis forward (2-3")
or move your rear spring mount back down the chassis !!!!!!
plus also your diff has to me moved forward !!!! only slightly !!!!!!!


as for lift , if set up correctly , the lift will stay the same !!!!!!!



personal preference , rear springs up front , with a reverse shackle !!!!!!!

I have done it and greg too. It involved extending the chassis about 3". The axle moves forward about 1.5". The result is great lots of flex and allowed us to run 34' Swampers. Why do you want to do it? more travel, bigger tyres? We are both running Old Man Emu 2.5" springs with 2" body lift, 2" extended shackles and have had to cut behind the headlight buckets and reshape the corner of the firewall . It is not an easy job but if you or someone you knows is a quality welder it should be ok

a few more minor points there grimbo.

1. the front axel moves forward, but your drive line should have enough slack in it so that you will not require a new front drive shaft.
2. you will also need to move your bump stops and shock mounts forward
3. you will need longer shocks up from to make use of the extra travel that you get from a rear spring up front.
4. you will need new break lines up the front to cope with the extra droop.
5. fitting 34's is a squeeze and it would be unlikely that you could fit anything bigger without moving the head lights and replacing the front wheel well area with tubes... i.e. if you are planning bigger, you may need to change approach to get them under there.

definately a great mod though and i am very happy with the result...

If youre going to go that far you might as well use CJ or YJ springs.

Can i get a pic of the tie rod & drag link of a vehicle with this setup???

I have moved my axle forward 20mm and these 2 rub, i cant see how it could possibly work without binding if you moved the axle forward 1.5" :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

I am still SPUA and they just and I mean just touch on some occasions there is a small clean spot on them.

There must be something wacky going on, i have redrilled my spring perches & plates to move the axle forward and it's at about 20mm. Stock springs, stock shackles and i have exactly what u describe.

some one needs to make somthin like this (hint hint :wink: )
that gives u the frame extension
that will bolt straight up an allow
put the rear springs straight on

rears up front can be bolted in .. with longer shackles (not uncontrolable long either ) see the pic of the shackles on mine in the SPOA spring perch thread ..

Is your RUF with OME's or stocks love_mud?

It just so happens I have a plate kit that allows you to bolt rears up front.

It retains stock drive angles and can be used with the stock shackle, however a 1" longer shackle would be ideal.

It DOES NOT move your axle forward.


I hope to be putting a set on mine this weekend or next.


DAMO already has a set on his.


If you have 3" springs in the rear and want it to sit even you will need re-arched or lifted springs in the front. A standard RUF on stock springs won't yield enough lift (not with the plates I have) to level out a 3" spring lift in the rear.

a 1-2" lifted rear spring put up front with the plates I have would work.

yes, you will need longer shocks.
yes, you will more than likely need longer brake lines.

Thats a pic of the Allpro drop hanger kit for a Hilux. Although it looks as if it is bolt on its not the bolts and plates are only to locate it while welding it on.
