HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU NEED NEW UNI'S???????

hi guys ive got a 95 hilux and am wondering how u know wen ur uni's are buggered.are there ways of checking?also are they hard to remove?any help would be great cheers

chock the wheels, gearbox in neutral. get under and give the driveshaft a good shake! if it has more than a few mm of movement at the unis than its shagged

Best way would be to remove the driveshaft.
Check for notchyness and play within the joint. (opposite directions of the normal movement)

And you'll find they will start to screech at low speeds when totally shagged

I would think a good uni should have NO play at The uni itself, not up to a few mm?

all of the above, they can also cause vibrations and can growl, click, clunk, grind etc when shagged
