Hi all. I just bought myself a 97 gq 2.8 . Thewater level in the radiator seems to be dropping everytime I drive it but I can't find any leaks and my oil doesn't seem to be milky at all. Would anyone have any idea on what could be causing this. Also what main dramas do these motors have go wrong with them????
Cheers[/list]

I had one for six years and the only major mechanical I had was a gearbox rebuild.
The biggest problem I had with it was it's lack of torque which is fine for offroad as long as you aren't towing heaps with it.
Your issue re loosing coolant might be minor. I would suggest you go and get a compression test done on the radiator to find out where it is leaking.
I had a similar problem years ago and it turned out to be the white valve on the top radiator hose which is a $10 part.

G'day mate,
My mates GU had the same problem and after we changed all hoses and re-cored the radiator as in this case was over heating we took the head off and found ou it was warped beyond repair. A new head a $1600 later and it was going as good as a 2.8 can. No more bubbling or overflowing.
Might be someting to check out if all else fails.
2.8

There is a plastic bleeder nipple in the top radiator hose. I have had two break under the head and leak. (they are easy to overtighten)
They are cheap from Nissan (surprised me too!!) and easy to check and replace.
I carried spares in the ashtray just in case
