What have you guys done with the captive nuts when doing your body lift? And how have you got in to do it? My last car i just butchered the hole, used a cold chisel to butcher off the cage, and then just used a normal nut and bolt back when i put the body lift in. oh yeah, i wd40'd on the day, not for a week b4 like i should have.
What have you guys done?

if the heat treatment (oxy) works wonders on them, can you re-use the nuts with a bit of locktite on the bolt or..?

Yup, heat to soften the factory loctite. WD40 does nothing.
You can drill thru them if you wish and use the captive nut as a base for a bolt to sit on.

Used an oversize hole saw to neatly make the hole a little bigger, then with a mig put a couple of tacks on it and the heat made them come straight out.

what is the better option, drilling out the captive nuts, or removing them and the cage? Or can you re use them with some locktite? if you drill out the captive nuts, does the new bolt head sit on top of the cage?

Heat them up and they come out EZ, (what would I know, I only do 5 body lifts a week)

ok, we understand they need to be heated to take them out..
but can we re-use the captive - nuts after the original bolts are removed?

Yes ypu can reuse captive nuts. You will just need to source a 1.25 thread long enough to suit.
