You will need a J3 chip with the smartlock turned off I suspect

I have a smartlock bypass unit here I use on 5L converions, then send the ECU to the same mob, to get smartlock removed, I have the box, from when i fitted one to my RR years ago, before they removed it internally

Automotive EMF is the mob 1800 638 761, havent used them for a few years though as its been that long since I've done a 5L windsor, although will need to refresh as I'm meant to be wiring a 32 ford with one soon

hey he should be able to fix your smartlock dramas, the other way to do it is to put a 2nd ignition barrel in with the smartlock key in it, behind the dash, you can use it as a kill switch if you want :) its what i did with my eb when i had remote start :D

Smartlock bypass is available and easy to do.
The issue with the auto trans to manual is the fact if the ECU doesnt get the correct signal from the auto it thinks it is in park or reverse and retards the hell out of the timing.
You can get a frequency injection box to fix the issue. I got mine from shiftkits.com They are not listed so you will have to email them , explain whats happening and get them to make you one up.

A J3 chip will support the smartlock removal and in some instances you can use a manual trans tune in the chip. When inserted the ECu runs off the J3 chip not the internal tune. I have the software to tune these realtime, then write to a J3. It enables other issues to be fixed due to missing sensors and you can remove fault codes caused by the retrofit.

pretty much the best way to do it with the std ecu

The vehicle is fitted with smartlock bypass, thats not the prob.

It is also fitted with resistor to tell it its in neutral, and a frequency module in place of the TCM, as supplied by shiftkits.com.

Thats why we are having isuues sorting it out, everything is there, Unless the frequency module has an issue
