Steel front diff into 93 LWB Vit

Hey all,

So I got lucky and found a 2001 manual V6 GV being wrecked. Guy let me have the front (steel!) diff for $150.

I had to pull it out myself, which was a bit of an adventure, but I got it eventually. Cross member mount and flange side easy, but took a while to figure out where to seperate the other side. Eventually pulled the boot back and tugged it until it came free. I left the bearing on the CV and just took what came away. It's all swimming in grease, and I haven't had time to clean it out and have a good look.

So my questions are:
1) Is this going to be a straight bolt in swap?
2) Do the internal gears etc match up with the originals, or do I need to gut both and transplant the orig internals into the steel housing?
3) Will I need a new bearing, seal, or anything else?

I just want to go into the job prepared, so I don't realise half way through that I need something else.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Rob.

Good score!

Will bolt straight up, use the vitara brackets, but you will only be able to use three bolts in each bracket, use the GV third member bracket (cross emmber bracket). No problems at all.

Use the GV housing with Vitara ring and pinion.

You will need a new seal, you should be able to use the bearing from the vitara.

Thanks mate. Think I've got all of that - I pulled the crossmember bolt and whatever came away with the housing I kept. I've also got all the bolts. I left the bearing on the driver's side behind, figured I could use the existing one.

Can I get a seal from Repco/StupidCheap?

Thanks for the help!
