flipping rear lower control arm mounts.

hey all
was laying under the patrol this arvo and was trying to work out a way to reduce the rear steer a bit. was thinking about flipping the lower control arm mounts on the rear diff to basically give a slightly smaller swing radius. yes it will move the same but may move less in the direction of shortening the arm a bit?
id love to extend the rear arm length but being a swb its rather hard as the chassis isnt straight.
any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

What are you going to do about the rear squat? If you move the control arms up above the center line of the axle, you will change the way the drive twists the diff under load and braking.
why not fit a long arm kit ?

its to do with the control arm link geometry
longer links, more parallel with the chassis will help reduce anti-squat and reduce weight transfer through the suspension. Theirs heaps of variables.

id love to put a long arm kit in it but being a swb the kit doesnt fit so to speak. due to the chassis being a bit on the wigggly side of life.
and yeah never though of the other things. like drive movement and the likes. well never mind me.

Keep it low and fab up a full belly plate for it Ben.
Will keep it legal and the low height won't be such an issue if you can slide over stuff without destroying the guts of it. Not to mention keep that suspension geometry more in check.
Patrol's standard axle steer ain't too bad. Check our Sim79's shorty - I'm betting his drives better than most on and off road with that suspension he's got.

hmmm i really like that idea. does it drive alright? and has it fixed abit of the rear steer these things are known for? also did you just fab up all the mounts and stuff for it or buy them?

did you just weld those control arm mounts to the inside skin of the chassis?
Eeek, don't like the sound of that.
Good rear end design though - got pics of flex? how did you notice the rear end now works under hard acceleration, in particular does it squat more?

a simple crush tube would fix that problem i reckon.
looking at it have you basically done a 4 link setup in that? as i cant see a panhard rod and the upper arms seem in a different spot?
if so more pics of setup/flex required.

not mine. was searching for 4 link setups, and found that. i think it the bloke is on here.
i dont think you would need to move the uppers. i would have sort sort of compensating plate on the chassis mount
