Hey fellas i've got the option of buy a 3.3lt deisel MQ fairly cheap. its a 1981 NISSAN PATROL DELUXE with 280xxx on it what sort of life expectancy have they got and is there any problems with them. It's not turbo but can easyly pick one up on the cheap(carton or two).

What sort of money would yo expect to pay for something like this?
Old mate is asking a grand is this about right? had a good look in all the usual places and cant find any major rust. Paint is what youd expect for a 30 year old car. Its all straight ect... it was owned by a old bloke since new( well his brother baught it new and then he baught it).

Cheers in advance Jonezy.

absolute great ol 4by, nearly bullet proof motors, they will go on forever if maintenance is kept
a few down sides, 24v power, not major just ensure the batteries are always up to the task
and the 4 speed gearboxes, they could do with a 5 speed some bother some dont, they just tend to over rev a bit, stick to the 100kl/h and all good
i just sold mine 480K on the clock,got 3K
no rust at all, still original paint and running gear
pulled a 2 tonne trailer with ease great ol thing
just drove 300klm and returned 10K/l
thats rite 30l for 300klm cant agrue with that
and for the asking price u say, grab it or i will LOL

ive had an mk shorty with the turbo diesel for about 5 years and never had a major drama with it. nothing i wasnt expecting anyway bought it with 180xxx now got 450xxx and starts every time. still pulls 100 on the highway and goes anywhere i point it off road.
rust has got to mine now though so im going to re shell it.

If you have a use for it then a grand is a really good price for it. Is it a wagon?

Yeah mate its a wagon, think i might grab her dont realy have a need for her at the moment but am trying to sell my current truck. was looking for a 60 series with a 12ht but their still pulling a premium $.

How do they handle 33"s or possibly 35" tyres. will i need to change diff ratios or gears ect...

n/a pull 33's no worries. bit slow but it is a diesel. Can pull 35 but it is a bit of an ask.
Turboed 35's no worries .
don't worry about ratios, as the na deisel came with 4.6
