hey guys,

just wondering if an auto gearbox off a petrol will bolt up to a diesel engine? or are the bell housings different?

cheers,

I'm led to believe that the bell housings are the same, BUT the crank in a diesel is 7 bolt and a petrol is 6 bolt so the flex plate wouldn't go straight on, I've heard that you might be able to use a safari flex plate coz they had diesel autos. Good luck with it.

bellhousings are different the petty starter has 2 bolts and the diesel has 3. not sure if you can tap a hole in bellhousing and fit it up.? would be worth a look though.

Would it not be easier to get a custom flex plate made up or re drill the flex plate.

Just get any wrecking on NZ to send one over. We have more auto TD42 here than anything else.
