80 Series Headers.
Hi, does anyone know if someone makes headers for the 80 series 4.5 petrol, that run inside the chassis?
I'm looking at rock sliders, but am put off by the drivers side missing the forward mounting simply because the CAT sits outside of the chassis rail.

Yes, there are a few that make headers for the 4.5, those that are to suit a 105 series go inside thew chassis. Expect to pay 800-1100 plus for them.
By the way, the front Cat is actually a resonator...straight through. So it can be lost without any legal problems, and the 8headers go down there as a double pipe and dont have that muffler. I have a set on my cruiser at the moment, they bolt up to the flange at the chassis overpass under the drivers seat. At some stage in the future, i will be selling them to put a turbo on, so let me know if you want a second hand set.

Cheers Andrew, that's good news indeed. The Sliders i'm looking at (Cheezy) fit except they leave out the front right forward chassis bar.
So if i fit headers and this means they can leave the forward bar in, all the better. Ok so this is my justification for headers to the missus
I'm looking to do this within the week so the timing on your seconds may be out, thanks for the offer however.
I will be interested to see how it your turbo works out. I'm considering forced induction of some sort once this donks up for rebuild.

Piccie is on its way
Tough as nails these Toyota's.
As you suggested, Pacemaker make an inboard system for the 100 series, initially the rep couldn't get it through his head that the 100 set would fit the 80. They dont list the 80 but in the instruction set listed on the web they refer to the 80 and 75 Series fitments.
Something strange, you pointed out that the front CAT was a resonator, and your right, also there's another resonator on the rear. Is the CAT then built into that big ass muffler? Either way it's getting the flick. There's SupaCat going in. half the size and I can see daylight though it so it should be less restrictive.
I've had to pull the old sway bar mounts off and re-route the air-locker lines. I pick it up tonight. Hope all goes well.
Thanks for the help.

Sounds good
Your exhaust has no cat and doesnt need one because there is a loophole in the law that didnt require anything above 2t to have one fitted at that stage.
The muffler is the bigest restriction. With a fuel pressure gauge, it has been mearured at 7 psi backpressure from that sucker. However, be aware that your motor is very loud with a turbo type muffler, so if u want to keep it quiet, you will need to fill that space with a nice long muffler.
will take piccies now 4 u

For anyone following this thread, the end results:
The original exhaust was replaced with 100 Series Pacemaker Headers and the 2.5" system re-routed inside the chassis, to a new rear muffler.
Leaving the outer Chassis clear for bar work.

Not at all, $950, we did however go through 3 mufflers prior to getting one that was acceptable re: sound vs back pressure.
