Factory diff lock on a boosted tb42

Just woundering if I should repair my factory diff lock which uses vacume to operate, will it stay locked on boost or will it disengage? I think it has a vacume can and one way valve but still unsure if will stay locked.

im not sure as it will create vacuum until on boost there more than likely pressurize. id say it should stay engaged as once the vacuum pulls it engaged thats it there isnt any more need to apply vacuum. but i could be wrong. long as the vacuum tank doesnt become positive pressure instead of vacuum you should be right.
i guess best bet, go for a drive and try it.

I would try it but I busted the center and have a LSD in it at the moment. Would like to go locked again but dont want the expense if its not going to work. The way I thought would happen is it would lock on vacume(no boost) that would work but when under boost with positive pressure on the diafram it would reverse and push the pin out and unlock. Maybe I could fit a non-return valve inline with the vacume hose from the manifold.

just get a airlocker at least you won't keep breaking centres. i have also heard you can make the factory locker operate on air pressure

ive heard of em running on air pressure as well. but id only like to run a small amount of pressure as id reckon you would blow the diaphragm to bits with as much pressure as an arb.

What about setting up a vacuum reservoir? A little can would store enough vacuum for several operations of the locker I'd think. I have seen plastic ones on a few cars at wreckers. In fact I have one out of a rover sitting on a shelf, it's just a plastic can with a couple of vacuum hose sized outlets. A one-way valve means it stores vacuum from the engine, so you would basically re-"fill" it with vacuum whenever you're off boost . Maybe?

pretty sure they need vacuum to pull across so once its there it should stay there.

these use vaccuum on both sides to hold it in position. So permanently pulling into neutral or permenantly pulling into LOCK.
