Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey guys im only new to 4x4 i went campin and fall in love with it. iv got a honda prelude and a honda xr 250, I like drivin and i love of road ridin but it would be really good, if i could do both with my gf. so when i saw 4x4s swimming accros a river crossing, I thaught screw the car and motor bike ill get one thing that does both and involve my gf. I think i will be able to get about $12,000 australian for both so what would u advise me to go after ? i would like the 4x4 for offroad and river crossings, hill climbing but would also like reasonable road handling thanks hepas for your thaughts
