As the subject asks, just wanting confirmaton from someone/anyone in the know that the 200tdi utilises the T25 Garret turbo. I'm only about 80% sure. I'm probably totally wrong as well....

Wanting to grab a re-build kit off ebay, just wanting to know the correct one to grab. Some mobs advertise 'T25 for Nissan 2.8'. Would this kit for a Patrol 2.8 T25 turbo fit ok on to 200tdi turbo?

Yes, it is a T25. Don't know if all rebuild kits are the same.

Cheers for that.

Got in touch with ebay bloke and says he is gonna go looking after grabbing model number. It could also be a John Davis Motorworks modified turbo, so it may even have a T27 housing - so I could get myself further into drama's down the line.

Here are some pics cropped from Garrett catalogues.
This pic lists turbos for some Land Rovers. It shows the disco 200Tdi has a Garrett TB0243 turbo - Garrett part number 465175-0001E.

This pic lists:
Part No, Application, C.H.R.A., Service Kit, A/R for the turbo (C.H.R.A. (3rd column) is Centre Housing and Rotating Assembly)

This pic shows item no's for the table in next pic

This pic is tech data for Garrett TB02 turbos.

Dang John! You do some serious proper reply work... Ta heaps!!

I asked for a quote from Diesel Care in Tamworth just to put new seals in if I just gave them the turbo. They quoted $1000 which is probably cheap to some people. I, on the other hand, nearly fell out of my chair. More if it needed further work. (Im wondering now if I should change jobs)

The service kit 709143-0001 listed for your turbo in 2nd pic is common and doesn't cost a great deal.

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Turbo-Rebuild-Ki ... 0438626089 There are other places with them that may be less.

You can fit yourself - make sure you mark the compressor wheel and nut so that they go on the same position on the turbine shaft when re-assembled so that balance is correct.

Thanks heaps (again) --- found an Aussie selling the same kit; have contacted him.

How many would laugh at me if I were to say that it took me six hours on saturday to get the engine in & bolted to the R380 by myself only using a endless chain block. (Im living up to 200tdi --- slow and steady)

Most rebuild kits contain enough parts to fit T2, T25 and T28 turbos as bearing housings are similar across that family. There are two different bushing sizes, the kits I bought included both sizes.

Thanks for that bit of comfirmation --- in one of the above 're-build instructions' threads, it also mentions the same.

200tdi back in, Now clutch problems. Was T25 Garret Turbo

All,
Finally got my second little 200tdi all back in. Fired her up about an hour ago. All sweet and awesome and everything. However, first attempt at selecting a gear - no go. So re-bled the clutch. Again. Clutch pedal is now feeling like it is way better than it has ever been. Full throw with bugger all 'sloppyness' from any air bubbles. Clutch plate on this engine looked pretty new-ish. Way better condition that on the old engine.
Dropped the box on Tuesday night because I forgot to put the little plastic clip on that holds the clutch slave push-rod in place. Kept falling out and down from its position within the dimple on the throw-out arm. And I gave up trying to put the plastic clip into place through the clutch slave hole.
Gearbox finally back in last night.

Want any advise on what to look for, or go from here to fix this clutch problem. Am guessing it just isn't throwing the arm far enough to disengage clutch plates.
Putting transfer in neutral, engine going, using clutch, she slips straight into 1st. Have maxi crawler gears in transfer, and because of the lo ratio, can just slip it straight into lo-range and off she goes. Even with clutch pedal fully in.

Best method of attack from here would be....?
