My GU 3.0 finally shat itself and blew a piston and I'm wondering where to go from here.

I would like to transplant a TD42 n/a or turbo into my GU but have no idea of cost and availability and exactly what I need and need to do to make this happen.

I am in the Brisbane Metro (ish) area and wondering where to look for parts and bits and pieces need to make this happen, and of course help.

I am a fully qual mechanic but are not clued up on Nissan being an ex Mitsubishi tech.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!!!

There is a TD42 on ebay for about 1500 at the moment.

Is the 3.0 an auto. If so you may want to grab a manuel with the 4.2. Shop around for a GQ 4.2 diesel and use what you need then sell the rest.

Its a manual. Apparently the gearbox is the same and i've put a solid flywheel and heavy duty kit in it 6mths ago.

Just sold the majority of my my td42t which had pretty much everything you need to convert!

I still have the gearbox, clutch and some bolt on ancillaries if your interested.

Not 100% on what the issue is, but apparently the instrument cluster from a td42 makes things easier. which I also have if you need/want one.

My stuff is in the drivetrain for sale section.

cheers

Yes they are the same box. You will need the 4.2D bellhousing.

Wow, thats pretty f%$king expensive. If I can get all the parts on the cheap, then I'd definitely do it myself

I am currently doing the conversion. Your welcome to come and have a look to see what you may need. I am using all the bits out of a 94 that I need to put into my 98 4.5 Auto GU. I used Killalux to wire it all using my standard dash. He done an awsome job. I am at Goodna.
