they are good, just expensive......

good scavange pumps cost an arm and a leg
an advantage is cause the crank isnt slapping through litres of oil it frees up some extra horsies that were previously fenced in

also you put your engine in a position where a hose can be snagged and punched, then youve got no oil......

ive herd they are very good just expensive and more maintence
i also looked into this for my upcoming engine swap, havent completely ruled in out yet, guess if i can find a good pump for the right price then sure

Is the idea for more sump clearance or better oil control on angles? Only some of the oil control issues will be "fixed" by a dry sump. John Cappa messed around with a moroso accumulator a couple of years ago to drop some pressurised oil into the motor when the oil pressure light came on. Quite cost effective and can also be used to "pre lube" the motor.

Could maybe even be setup to drop oil into the sump or top end of the motor when the oil pressure light came on so long as the charge light was off... maybe. Cheaper to mess around with than a completely custom built dry sump for a 3L ;)

I'm putting a dry sump on the bushie for sump clearance and steep angles. I have a 3 stage peterson pump (with 4 stage you can scavenge the rocker cover and run the motor upside down :D )

My biggest concern is loosing drive to the pump (mud etc).

Not sure, it was a while back and my receipts are in a mess - but it was expensive.
