Is anyone running weld on beadlocks on flipped rims or dose it not work as the beads on the rim different? The rims are the standard 15 x 10 steel wheels i have internal now wanting to change.

Thanks Hancock

You can't run mech beadlocks on flipped rims. You can only put the tyre on a rim on one side, because of the lip inside the rim.

"JJ" rims commonly found on 4WD's actually have bead retention lips on both sides of the rims. Single "J" rims have one on the outer side of the rim

There shouldn't be an issue, as you are flipping the outer bead retention lip to the inside, and cutting the rim on the old inner rim anyway

I checked out the rims the beads are almost identical as hopefully they be fine. DAMKIA i was not going to cut the old bead off just weld the ring straight to the edge of the rim. Is that how you mount the home weld on kits?

Seen this first hand, the tyre wont strecth far enough to fit the flipped rim

i should have taken pics but im pretty certain the 34"s i got for the zook were beadlocked on a flipped rim :? , not 100% certain but the rim was moddified to have a 50mm offset, so im assuming it was a flipped rim? mechanical weld on beadlockers btw

we are talking about a rim that is 10 inchs wide not a cheese cutter rim off a zuk.

it is when Ur trying to stretch a Tyre 2' further than the extra 2' that you've already stretched it. But if you dont believe me knock you're self out and have a go. :finger:

I've mounted and dismounted Tyres from flipped rims with mechanical beadlocks- just work backwards- mount the tyre working from the front instead of the back of the rim.

It all depends on where the recess is. On most rims it is closer to the outside edge but when the rim is flipped it is then closer to the inside. So when fitting a tyre to a flipped rim you either have it stretch the tyre from the outer rim first to the recess that is now closer to the inside edge. Or put in on from the back or inside edge. Therefore fitting the tyre from the back and then trying to stretch the outer bead of the tyre from the recess over the outer edge to where the flat fitting plate is.(where all the bolts go) If you have tried to do this on a 10' rim you will know that its impossible, tyres wont stretch that far.

so the gun your saying the tire go's on the rim but you can not pump it up as the tire wont sit out on the edges so it wont hold air?

No mate, you cant get the tyre on the rim. When you fit a tyre to a rim you place the tyre half on the rim with the bead in the rims recess and then prise the rest of the bead over the edge of the rim. If the rim has been fliped the recess is closer to the inside edge. Because of the now extra distance between the recess and the outer edge of the rim the tyre wont stretch from that recess and allow the rest of the bead over the outer edge. If you grab youself a wide rim even an 8' and try mounting the tyre from the wrong side you will see what I mean.

dont quite get it, so a 12.5" wide tyre, is supposedly stretched to fit an 8" wide rim? where do you figure an extra 2"s on top of that?

So can the tire be mounted from inside of the rim (the old outside) :?:

Yes and no. Yes you can mount both beads of the tyre on the rim from the now inside but when you try to lever the outside bead of the tyre over the outside clamping edge of the rim the bead wont stretch that far because the rim recess is closer to the inside edge.

So no one has done this with flipped 15 x 10's that's a prick... :bad-words:

you could put the bead lock on the (new) inside bead, its this bead that is most likely to come off anyway (its the smaller one

wont look as good but the 5 0 wont see it either
