how to tow a 2.5ton 60 series 340km..?

hey guys
i'm looking at buying an fj62 sahara, and it's over 340km away from my place (680km round trip). I know most hire trailers aren't rated for anything over 1200kg, so where would i get one that can handle a 2500kg 60 series?
or if anyone knows of a place that wil hire out a flat bed truck with ramps for a decent price it'd be good, my dad has a heavy articulated truck license so he can drive it.

where abouts is it?
i drive a tow truck part time and we cart em all over.
might be able to back load it
that being said i forgot to send you those pics of the 60.

Unsure on the brakes, I think the master cyl is shagged, don't want to end up with no brakes and crash into soemthing. If it comes to it i'll take the chance though.

Check out a trailler from a commercial hire company instead of the local
servo, they ought to have something appropriate. I had one from hire-it and it towed really nicely (hj75 behind hj75 - 6000kg combo). Not sure what the trailer was rated at but wouldn't hesitate to do it all the time...only problem is you have to use your own bindings/tiedowns.

I have a mate making up an A frame that he was going to use to tow his Zook. Just a metal frame from towball to the two recovery points on the front of the vehicle.
Not sure on legality of it all, but it seemed like a good idea.

They are legal but the towed vehicle has to have brakes and lights controlled by the towing vehicle.
I would take the risk and use a hired car trailer. THe only reason they have such a low carrying capacity is because over a certain weight they need break-away brakes. Although given the state of some hire trailers i'd be checking the brakes and lights myself first.

ring some other hire shops.
you will fit a 60 on most trailers atleast. but check width just incase.
just tow the thing carefully. sit on 80 and take it easy.

A Frame tow hitches are only allowed if towing vehicle is 2.5 times the weight of the vehicle it is towing. thats why campervans can do it but its not allowed with a sedan.
