Best Coiled Toyota ever built

What would this be ? If you had to pick a bog stock, factory, coil sprung Toyota to go off road and wern't allowed to mod it at all. What would be the best off road wepon. ?
You'll have to take into account... Comfort, power, fuel econemy, off road ability..... you know ..... the best all rounder, but mainly concentrating on off road ability.

Sahara 80 with a manual box and to top it off a 1HD FTE. Wouldn't look at the multi valve 80, heard they're pricks of things but i'm sure thats just comes down to personal opinions.

Yep, another vote for late model TD 80 series Sahara. There not up for sale too often though.

What have you heard about the multivalves mate? Care to elaborate?

The 76 series is a good contenter even tho its only half coily- the rear leaves ride REALLY well, and its got that stonking 4.5L V8TD under teh bonnet!

another vote for the new troopy/wagon
80s are fine but if you're gonna leave it bog stock then a new 70 is better value.

howso? an 80 is what? 10 grand? a new 70 is 50 grand, with a narrower track width, and the ramp over angle of the QE2

Yeah sahara 80s are rare in the TD.
I looked for ages, then gave up and got a 1HDFT 80.
but the question was best 4wd. i cant see how a factory locked Turbo Diesel can be beaten really?

80 series 4sure. 4.5 or TD. Doesnt have to be a sahara, just add airlockers.
Dirty rock star - check this 1 out.

If you were to be keeping it stock there is no competition to an 80series sahara with factory lockers front, rear and center

There was no mention that cost was to be taken into account, so i vote 200 series Landcruiser. Something like 680mm of wheel travel and that crawl control system and KDSS AND V8! I'd have one in a heartbeat!
