hey guys this is screwin my head over.
I have a 4.2td with the vac pump on the back of alternator.

The alternater isnt charging, we replaces the regulator and brushes, gave the insides a good clean up, have power, ign power & charge power
all on the correct wires..... but it still dosent charge.

Is there anything else that I can check to see if I can fix it before biting the bullet n buyin another.

cheers
Steve

Battery stuffed? Alt belt missing? Belt too loose? Failing that take it out and to a auto sparky. AEEA have good replacement ones. Good luck.

Does the charge indicator in the dash cluster come on when you turn the ignition on?
If it does, does it stay on with the engine running?

usually with the TD 4.2 alternators it's easier to just buy a new one. i had trouble with mine and it was gunna be more of an effort to fix so i got a new one. at least you know it's new and if the problem is still there then you've cancelled out the alt as one of the problems
