Steel rim options for a Gen4-2 Pajero

I finally got around to taking my new NT Paj out to see what it's capable of in the bush ....

I shouldnt have been supprised, but I have fount it a very capable machine, exceeded my expectations, although it still had highway tyres on .... i took it everywhere the patrol with muddies I was travelling with went.

Spending much of it's time on the black stuff as a touring machine, I need to decide what to do about tyres for the occasional bush bash?

I'm currently considering getting some steel rims with the right tyres I can sit in the shed and bolt on as needed.

The OEM / MMA steel rims seem a bit expensive, so I was considering possibly a set of sunraysia's or other steel rims with at least ATRs, possibly from ebay etc.

But most of the sunnies I have seen dont have the large +ve offset the rims on the Paj requires.

Surely there are other options avaliable? The Toyota's (Hiliux and Prado) have similar offsets?

What other options would you recomend .... feedback appreciated

Oh and I forgot to add that the big brake calipers will prob limit me to 17" steel rims (currently it has 18" factory alloys)

Keep an eye on E-bay, you will come accross NS/NT Factory alloys and Steel rims come up pretty cheap, that might be yor best option. also check out the Vic Pajero club forum, may be some guys on there selling rims.

Yeah that's what I ended up doing with my NP.
Mine has 16" alloys so I just got a 2nd set and fitted muddies to those for offroading.
The cost of 16" steelies new was about the same as the alloys anyway.
Yours being 17" I can bet that if steelies exist they will be expensive and it maybe cheaper to just Ebay a 2nd set of 17" alloys for offroad tyres.

I have my lux 15x7 sunnys on Mrs Ds paj, its a late 93mod, think its NJ??
Anyway, they stick out of the guards with my 31x10.5 ATs, but it has given an instant 2inch lift.
I know this because, she has one of those rubber strips hanging off the back bumper(anti static strip or something), with the standard tyres on(which were 235x75x15), the strip sits on the ground. Then, I put on my 31s, now the strip sits about 2inches off the ground.
Anyway, the point is that my sunnys fit ok, probably wrong offset for the paj, but they fit.
They are lux/cruiser offset as far as I know.
I think patrol rims might be better, as I used to have some patrol rims on the lux and they used to rub on my tie rod ends.

Dudelux, the NS/NT has to run 17" rims to clear the larger calipers.
So far no aftermarket steelies exist that will fit this model (except the mega expensive Mitsi ones).
The NM/NP has to run 16" rims but there are steelies available plus GU Patrol 16x8 steel rims have been used successfully.
All earlier Paj's will happily run 15" rims with the correct offset.
